I'm back! ;D On Friday I was pretty busy, had to get a new CD rack from Argos and some other stuff from my nearest town (Kilmarnock). Then when I got back I started watching The Two Towers, which I'd bought on video. I watched two hours of it then it was time for dinner. After dinner I watched Doctor Who and then got addicted to my PS2! Hehe, I was pretty busy that day, wasn't I? I still thought of you lot though, wondering what you'd been talking about! ;D Yesterday I watched the rest of Two Towers then I switched into total Girlie mode 'cause I started looking for pics and info about, well, you know, someone with the initials GC...

Welcome back! That leaves Roxxy, though.

Aw, yeah - I miss her too, I like her feistiness! I'd like to be a bit more confident, like she is.
How's your holiday been, apart from the power cut?

Not too bad, thanks. I owe the sun a debt of gratitude - it's bumped me up from 25% happy to 45% happy. Hopefully by the end of the year I can be about 90% happy, which is what I need.
How about you? How have things been for you?

The weather's been lovely today and tonight I'm going to try and spot Mars - it's the closest it's been to Earth for about 20,000 years (or maybe more) and it's going to be really bright in the sky ;D There's hardly any cloud here so I'm crossing my fingers... On the bad side, I went to Yahoo there and got beseiged by b****y pop-ups!

Really? I'll have to have a look for Mars myself tonight, then. Venus is incredibly bright where I am and the night sky is almost always totally clear so I should get a good view. Might even see a shooting star, although I never have before! Ah, lovely pop-ups. Where would we be without them?

I love seeing stars and planets. I hate how most people don't care about these things and don't bat an eyelid when something like a new planet or whatever is discovered. When I look at the stars on a clear night, I get a spooky, awesome feeling 'cause I know I'm a tiny dot in the universe...
Have you seen the International Space Station? I have, it's so bright and moves so fast that one minute it's there, the next it's gone! ;D

I know what you mean. I remember a few years ago it was twilight and I could see Mercury, Venus, a full Moon, Mars and Jupiter. It was incredible - to perceive the Solar System in that way. It put everything into place. Fantastic.
I've never seen the ISS. I should really do a bit more stargazing from time to time.
I'd love to see a total solar eclipse in my lifetime. That must surely be the most spectacular natural phenomenon that any human could ever witness.

Ooh, did you see that eclipse in, was it, 1999? It wasn't completely total where I saw it from, but it was awe-inspiring, everything just quietened down. The birds stopped singing and it became cold. I'd like to go back in time and relive that moment!

It was exactly like that for me, too. It was about 98% totality where I was so it was reminiscent of early evening. There was some very high cloud at the time, in front of the Sun, which acted as a filter, so I was able to look directly at the Sun without fear of damage. A crescent Sun was a very ethereal thing to behold.

I was on a training scheme (in an office) when it happened - me, the other trainees and the staff all went out into the back yard. After it happened, we felt weird for a while! Did you have a pair of those glasses - I've still got mine, lol! Although I don't think I'll be using them for the rest of my lifetime
