Uhm, no - I've never written anything like that. The amount of experience I have of that sort of thing is precisely squat. It's just your filthy mind reading the wrong things into my pure lyric. If I did ever write anything like that, I'd probably have to make it funny to make it fit for human consumption. E.g.: "She sucked a dummy until she was nine... then they arrested him."

Hi-ya, I've just joined here. Nice work Malefact. I'm a musician too. I like your words, there's some great imagery in there; 'waterfalling', 'haze of dusk', it's all good. Do you play in a band or do you record alone?

Hi and welcome! Thanks very much. I record alone. I have a digital four-track and CD burner that I use. I play guitar and keyboard. What do you play? Do you write? What sort of music do you like? Many questions.

I do indeed write music. It's probably the only reason(apart from Knightmare) I'm still sane. I play bass in my friend's music project, which is basically straight forward metal stuff, but my real passion is what I record alone.
I play guitar and bass well, and keyboards extremely badly. I've got a little 8-track and use a mini-disc for final mix-downs, but I'd like to record it properly.
I like loads, but these are my favourites. Classical music like Paganini and Bach is great. Rock bands I like: Soundgarden, Radiohead, Emperor, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins, Type O Negative. I like a little dance music - Enigma, Portishead. What kind of stuff do you like, Malefact?

I got a bass guitar for my 21st birthday. I'll be using it a lot when I record my next album. My dad is the bassist in a jazz trio - he was once recording in Abbey Road next door to the Beatles. He's met them, among others.
I'm a fan of progressive rock - the Moody Blues, King Crimson, Procol Harum, ELO, Yes etc. I also like a bit of classical music. Bach is probably my favourite - his melodicism is marvellous.

I've heard something by most of those bands - I like alot of King Crimson's music. I suppose as a Prog-musician you do concept albums and fifteen minute tracks!
I'm mainly interested in strange song structures, and the overall effect the track has. I like dark, fantastical themes and try to 'think' a key part of a song before I go about recording it. It's all very, very pretentious, I realise.
How has your work been going for the past few months? Do you have a name?

Just read it, what a great job. Loved the lyrics, good luck with it.

Wills: Well, none of mine are over eight minutes. My current favourite song is Starless, by King Crimson, which clocks in at over twelve minutes. Marvellous! I'm a fan of mood and texture in music, which includes odd chord sequences (classical/jazz-type). I've been working on the album for a good few years now and hope to finish it in the Summer when I have the time. The working title is Adam Three Trillian. RRR: Thanks very much!

RRR: Thanks very much! Would that be short for ringrasterrob? It sounds like the Scooby Doo pronunciation of ringmasterrob! Sorry, that's terribly picky of me. I've commented on one of the songs, Terminus, previously; but I'll have a better look at the other lyrics too.

Yes, short for ringmasterrob. Pedant! Another candidate, called Petting Zoo: Walk this way, tomorrow's here to save the day. Whaddya say? Boys and girls come out to play. Take your time, try her out she once was mine Oh, yeah, when you're done just leave her there for me. Welcome, friend, you've passed through to journey's end. Now you're free to have the one you want to be. Hey, Boy Blue, here's your list of things to do. If I were you I'd do them all right now whilst still brand new. When you get older you'll regret not having fun. So get out there and do your thing - the tournament's begun. Come fire and rain, come joy and pain, come rest ye weary head In the petting zoo. Hey, Boy Blue, get out that list of things to do. The beer and fruity juice will help the night to disappear. Now you see the face of what we choose to be. Those hunter eyes shine through selection's gene disguise. You say you'll pass it up, well, do you think that's wise? Sail away, tomorrow is just another day. It's like they say; if love is what you want then pray. Hey, Boy Blue, you have to swim in shit to find the diamond ring, And when you take Her hand you'll stink like anything. These hunter eyes shine through selection's gene disguise. You say you'll pass it up, well, do you think that's wise? When you get older, you'll regret not having fun. So get out there and do your thing - the tournament's begun. If our friends upstairs are in a fix we'll take a dive. It's like they say; there's more to life than being alive.

It reminds me of my life - not having enough fun. It's quite 'You've got to seize the day', isn't it? Cool.
Also, I like the word 'Terminus', because it sounds a bit like 'Terminal illness', which could give the lyrics a whole new twist!
Or is that just me bringing too much doom to the table....?

Petting Zoo is me in sarcastic mode - it's a bit of a piss-take! 'Petting Zoo' is code for Club. I hate clubs. You can bring as much doom as you like to the table - it's all good!

Hmm, clubs. At best they can be good night out, at worst they can be seedy as heck. I prefer gigs, or pubs. At least there's some atmosphere at a gig, and more of a point to attend it.

Hey Malefact! I was just wondering if you'd got any further with Adam Three Trillion. I'm going to be recording mine properly over summer, unfortunately not in a studio. It's got a working title of 'Mills of Doom' (no surprises there), and I've written nine tracks for it. I've also recorded a reworked version of the Knightmare theme, which I intend to wipe from the face of the earth.
Any other budding musicians or lyricists out there?

Yo! Well, I hope to try to record something before August. My time has been taken up with all manner of stuff and junk, though - which may well be the case for a while. If I can, though, I'll record an album called The End. It's a very progressive set of songs (there's just five!) that I'm quite looking forward to doing. I'll be experimenting a lot with effects (I'll be using a lot more doubling this time in order to heighten presence). Best of luck with your album. Please feel free to put any samples my way if you want.
