Me and mum were watching a programme on ITV last night which revealed a lot of stuff that the American government covered up. Things like there were NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq for a long time and that in the late 1970's some of the Taliban were invited to America and given a tour. They were also treated like honoured guests. Makes you wonder what else they're deceiving people about.

Hmm, has anyone actually proved all this? I'm afraid I'm totally pro-american, and some of my friends are americans too. Don't forget, there is a lot of anti american feeling in the government of late, in my opinion. Also, don't forget that in the 70's the american government was completly different. This could turn into an interesting debate. ;D

Well, there was a man interviewing former members of the CIA and the government and they were revealing all that stuff. There was genuine footage of the female advisor to George Bush saying early in 2001 that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with Al-Queda and that he wasn't a threat to other countries. There was footage of the Taliban going on that tour in the 70's.
I'm pro-American too and I'm glad that the Taliban have been defeated as well as Saddam Hussein. I absolutely hate terrorists. It's just that the programme made me think that although we see the government in parliment on TV, we aren't told everything.

Unfortuantely, any government will lie to it's people, but I think the reason that we went to war with Iraq was because the U.S. believed that they had weapons of mass destruction.

Yeah, well at least they got rid of Saddam, even though no weapons have been found yet. Those poor people had suffered enough under that man's rules. I hope he gets caught in the not too distant future. I was watching live when the men started destroying the statue and then it got pulled over by the tank - that was a great moment! Then all the people running over to it, kicking it, stamping on it...

Was there anyone really narrow-minded (i.e. they only believe in what they can see when it's right in front of them) in the discussion?

Hehe, how did that happen? And what did you have to say to the narrow-minded ones?

heh, I had to teach someone about e-mails as I spend most of my life on the Internet. ;D *sighs* They didn't want to hear my views on paganism/wicca... Well, they might have listened but I don't think they heard, if you know what I mean...

They didn't know how to use e-mail? Hehe, I knew what to do the first time I used e-mail - and that was before I went to college! I think it'd be cool to be a Wiccan, the trouble is, some of the ingredients are a bit hard to find where I live!
