With the Fighting Fantasy books, I am interested to know if any people prefer books from 1-50 or from 51 onwards, where they get more complex and paragraphs tend to include lots of 'game instructions', and they also tend to have situations where you must eat a meal (although this has occured in previous books, it is more common in later books).
Incindentally, the Fighting Fantasy books are being republished, but in a different order and, as far as I know, Legend of Zagor is the only book that has been published by Wizard Books (the publishers who have started to republish the Fighting Fantasy books) that is one of the books with number greater than 50 in the original Puffin print run.

I've never read any of them but I just wanted to say 'hi'. Hi!

I've also never read any of them - I stuck with the Knightmare gamebooks. I wrote & illustrated my own fantasy gamebook, 'The Daring Rescue', with a friend when we were 10. I still have it somewhere.
Zagor, a member of this Forum and the Main Forum, is probably the best one to talk to about Fighting Fantasy books - as you can probably guess from his username!

I didn't know there were any beyond no. 50. 59 was the highest numbered original Fighting Fantasy book (and I know that, on the main forum, there were lots of people who had read Fighting Fantasy books after I started a thread involving these books).

I've got 20-30 of them at home. I don't seem to remember there being much difference between about 30-50 and 50-55. I think most of them are pretty good.

www.fightingfantasygamebooks.comis the place for all your info on the books. Personally, I like all of them, and isn't comparing 50 gamebooks to just 9 a bit drastic?

I was sure that the FF books were somewhere in the 80-90s region at some point, wasn't there a 100th book?
Anyway, I prefer the earlier ones myself (except for Creature of Havoc which I despise. Also, I really liked Steve Jackson's Sorcery! series, which have also been reprinted.
