Actually now I think about it but could be wrong but I believe when Proboards did an upgrade everyone had to reactivate their accounts which is why there are members here who have no posts and an active account and some have a few posts but their accounts are not activated. I remember (vaguely) having to reactivating my account after an upgrade. Maybe the settings for my forum got reset at the upgrade or I did change them but don't remember doing so. I mean that was about 3 or 4 years ago atleast. And talking of years looking at your registered date, you've been here for almost 5 years now.
I agree about keeping this place because an off topic board is definately needed being that there isn't one on the main forum. The other more recent off topic board didn't last did it. Actually I think having a small amount of regulars is good.

To be honest, I think all boards should have an off-topic section so people can find out what other things people like apart from the board's main topic. It's a pity that was missing from the main forum...but it did lead to the creation of this place, which as well as having a nice little group of people, has some fantastic topics ;D

I think it was early 2006 when ProBoards upgraded and existing members had to activate their accounts to continue posting, whilst new members had to have their accounts approved by a Mod. This caused a bit of disruption over at Knightmare Roleplay, until all the Mods were promoted to Global Mods, giving them the power to approve accounts. While safeguards against spammers, nuisance posters etc. are a good idea, there is such a thing as too much red tape. And of course, if Mods have too little power or too little time [sorry, I accidentally left the word 'time' out when I posted this], there's a limit to how smoothly a forum can run.
Thanks for noticing that my '5th anniversary' is on the way! I'm quite proud of the fact that I established myself as a member here before joining the main forum - most people did that in reverse. If I hadn't had such a warm welcome here, I might never have reached out any further...
Illusion always resisted the idea of an off-topic board on the main forum due to concerns over bandwidth. I don't know if he still feels that way now, but it would look odd if an off-topic section was added and then ended up being used more than the KM-related sections! (Thinking about it, the main forum's Knewbie Welcome board does allow for a little bit of off-topic discussion.) But while the Knightmare Post off-topic forum has been and gone (though it's still linked from the main forum), this forum has remained, and kept a good atmosphere. And one of the signs of this forum's appeal and success is that some members, like Snowwiewolf and PhoenixFlame, have actually made more posts here than they have on the main forum!

And I've also just noticed that Romanha joined here 5 years ago too. Yeah I remember about the bandwidth issue in particular why no images or links were to be posted. However I can't see how images would effect the bandwidth being that there's lots of people who have their own hosting such as Photobucket and Imageshack etc. But yes I agree about the forum looking odd if there was more off topic than on conversation. Also that would be a lot of work if there's a lot of locking, editing and moving.
So what has happened to Snowwie and Phoenix then? They were here quite regularly when this board was buzzing. As was Skarkill and Fidgit. If I remember Fidgit had his own personal issues and struggles though.

Snowwie has had some troubles of her own over the last year or so, although she did drop by for a chat in the chatroom a while back, it was lovely to see her I haven't been in the chatroom for ages though (I'm on so many forums these days I don't really chat in chatrooms that much now) so I don't know if she's been back or not, I need to go and read the chatlogs at some point. I think Phoenix and Skarkill have been invited to start chatting here recently, but haven't taken up the offer yet (Oh and I retract my earlier statement about there not being much new to reply to on the main board, because there has been )

The main forum's restriction on external image posting may be a relic from the age when most people were on dial-up, rather than most being on broadband, as is probably the case today. Perhaps Illusion (or Knightmare.com, as he now calls himself, which could get confusing) will rethink the usage guidelines at some point. As it is, some posts with images in just get left as they are, while others get edited by the Mods almost immediately. I think Snowwie is in the position where she doesn't visit the KM sites of her own accord much anymore, but does reply to emails. Judging by what she said in Knightmare Chat that time, life isn't easy for her, but she hasn't forgotten us. Telling her we miss her seems a good way to raise the chances of her dropping by the chatroom again. According to PhoenixFlame's profile, she visited the forum as recently as mid-July this year. I don't understand what it was that made her want to visit, but not to post while she was here; but that's just me. Fidjit makes a post on the main forum every now and then, but certainly isn't as active as he was when he was Motley. I get the sense that he's not as troubled as he used to be. He must be in that safe period between teenage angst and twenties angst. ;D Going back to an earlier point: I think having a small amount of regulars is good. On the whole, I agree. In some cases, forums benefit from a large number of contributors, sharing different viewpoints and bringing variety. But with a forum like Knightmare Roleplay, it's better to have a small collection of characters who post fairly often than a huge population with members who only post every few months. That's not ideal for a roleplay forum, especially not one where, at the moment, only 2 out of 5 Mods are active on a weekly basis. ;D With chatrooms, too, I find that too many people visiting at once makes things chaotic. By the way, Debbie, there was a question that Pooka asked you over on the main forum, and if you feel like answering it sometime (either there or here), we'd be very interested.

Oh yeah sorry. I got one of the original board games. I didn't open it though. Tell Snowwie that she certainly isn't the only person who's been struggling . I hope that Fidjit/Motley isn't going through the issues/struggles that he'd been having in the past. It's ashame that he'll always have though. (sorry if my post there seems a bit muddled. But I'm not really thinking very straight) Oh and what about Foxxy Roxxy?

Lord knows what happened to Roxxy, she was here a lot when this forum started up, but I checked her profile recently and she hasn't been here since July 2003 It's a shame because she was a great personality

The Last Login Date on Roxxy's profile page is the same as the date she registered, meaning she stayed logged in the whole time; her last posting activity was actually in 2005. Still, that doesn't change the fact of her unexplained disappearance from the KM community. She went from having a lot of fun, and making a lot of posts... to nothing. You're right, it is a shame. I think Phoenix and Skarkill have been invited to start chatting here recently, but haven't taken up the offer yet And yet they didn't hesitate to join your new off-topic forum and post there. That is something I don't understand. Sorry if it sounds like I'm bitter: I'm disappointed really, as it would be great if they returned to this forum.

No it's ok - I miss them posting in here too. This forum has a place in my heart (I definately WON'T be making a disappearing act again and I genuinely mean it this time) and even though it's very quiet at the moment I always come here to re-read old topics and post when I can. It'd be great if it got back to some semblance of what it used to be like, I miss those days

That's sweet. You inspired me to look through old posts myself. Thinking about it, this is probably the friendliest and most trouble-free forum I've ever been a part of. As I hinted in an earlier post, the welcoming atmosphere of Knightmare Back-Up helped to encourage me to venture further into the KM community by joining the main forum and KMBS. So like you, I feel loyalty and affection towards this place (and here I am, making post number 250!). It is sad to think that the forum's heyday is long past (and perhaps the same is true of the internet's KM community as a whole), but maybe the best thing to do is not to think about the flame that's died down, but the spark that still glows. Who knows, we may yet come up with ways to pour some petrol on that spark.

This is really a relaxed chiller board and yes very friendly and trouble free. I think being that the only people who have really known about this place and have been interested are the mature members from the main KM board. And as for trouble free, the board has run smoothly even without staff. Which proves that if the members are mature people themselves and sensible then a that keeps the atmosphere pleasent. Saying that even though I would like this board to have a bit more activity, i.e. more people here. I don't want anyone else here if that's going to destroy the atmosphere of the board. I would like some of the old regulars here that kept this place a fun one though.
