I don't know how many of you guys know about this already, but I found out last night and it's confirmed that Christopher Eccleston is the new Doctor Who!
The only thing I've seen him in is that great drama that was on last year (I think!) - The Second Coming. Now I thought he was great in that and although I haven't seen much of his stuff I think he is definately a good choice for the role!
Anyway, what do you lot think of him being the Ninth Doctor?
Doctor Who's back, and it's about time! ;D

*In Doctor Who Fan Mode. ;D* An apsaulty sound bit of casting in my mind. Anything will be better then the previous eighth Doctor. (The BBC are talking at the moment as though Ecclestone is going to be playing the EIGHTH Doctor, Not The Ninth. He's just the ninth actor to play the role.) Now if they get thr right actress to play the assistan Rose Tyler we could have something. (Pleses BBC NOT Billy Piper.) Also they confirmed that some old monster like the Cybermen, Autons, Ice Warriors, Maccra, Zygons & everybodys favirot Hommicidal Pepper Pots (I personaly don't care for them) The Daleks will be makeing a retrun apperence. Hopefully these 13 episoeds will be a succses. Get reday to hide behind the sofer because He's Back and It's about Time.

Yes, I heard he beat off competition from Alan Davies and someone else who I cant remember!
I do think it was a wise decision casting wise, as although Davies would have made an excellent Doctor, I fear he may be used as a copy of Tom Bakers Doctor, and really they need orginality!
Something worth a mention is also guest stars! I wonder if Simon Pegg, Mark Gatiss and some other members of the League of Gentlemen costar, as they have written some novels and have been a part in the audio series! (Also rumour has it that they had a big part in its return, whether this is true is unknown)

I predict that when the new Doctor Who finally airs it will be one of (if not THE) the most popular things on British TV. It's about time (lol!) that the BBC started making quality homegrown TV...yay for Doctor Who! ;D ;D ;D

2005 promises to be ripe with comebacks - Doctor Who, the new Carry On film and quite possibly Km, among others. Bring it on. (I believe Eddie Izzard was another of the candidates for the role of the Doctor)

I saw Christopher Eccleston in 'Elizabeth', he played Norfolk (as in the title, not the county, not sure who you play a county, nevermind) he was very good.
I dont share Mally's enthusiasm about the new carry On film though, I dont see how you can have a Carry on Film without Kenneth Williams or Sid James

Sorry Skarkill (and everyone else who's not keen on her, me included), but the only name I've seen linked to the part of the Doc's assistant (Rose Tyler) has been Billie's. Well, I suppose there's got to be one bad point about new Doctor Who (why couldn't they have got someone like Lucy Davis to play the part?).

What do people think of the new series so far? Personally, I really like it.

Hi, James. You've been in the KM community far longer than I, so it feels odd welcoming you here... though I have been on this forum longer! (Then again, you were here as Zagor, many moons ago...) Good to have you on (the) board. I'm also pleased to note that the date you joined this forum is exactly a year since you and I met in person - happy anniversary! I'm enjoying the new episodes too. They don't always feel that original, and sometimes the special effects are overwhelming; but overall, in my opinion, there's a balance between comedy, sci-fi and action and continuity that's uniquely appealing. And after watching countless hours of American sci-fi on the BBC, I take pride in watching home-grown sci-fi!

I can't think of anyone I've spoken to within the Knightmare community who isn't a fan of the latest series. And now we have an even newer Doctor, with more new episodes on the way. And from what I hear, they're going to contain quite a mixture of old and new. (For the record, I'm not averse to the odd spoiler, as long as they're aren't too many in one go, and as long as they don't give too much away about how episodes will unfold or end.)
I'd be interested to hear what the rest of you are most looking forward to about the forthcoming series. I'm keen to see how Rose bonds with the new Doctor, an alien planet or two, and the return of the Cybermen (I've never seen a Cyberman episode before, and I'm wondering whether they'll remind me of the Borg).

It'll be good to see how the series progresses with the relationship between Rose and the Doctor, should be some good laughs!

I changed the title of this thread because it looked a bit out of date, heh The new Series 2 should start in April at some point - well that's what all the mags are saying. Personally, I hope it ends up starting in March!
