So now everyone's speculating on who the 11th Doctor is, now David's leaving. But hey, 5 more specials to enjoy with him in it I think the next Doctor is David Morrissey, have had a feeling about that for ages and now it's looking even more likely...

It does seem that David Morrissey will have an important role to play in the Doctor Who universe, even if he doesn't turn out to be the 11th Doctor. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him and his fine outfit. I only hope he won't have to put up with River Song at any point...

I thought River Song was ok, but saying that, I wasn't mad about her either. Wouldn't be surprised if she turned up in the 11th Doctor's tenure though, what with SM being the new executive producer... Was reading old issues of Doctor Who Magazine and in one of them - around the start of 2008 - Julie Gardner said that the producer who's replacing her was starting work on Series 5. Then she said that filming for Series 5 would start in the spring of 2009, which strengthens the hunch I've had that the 11th Doctor has already been cast. It also adds to the theory that David Morrissey IS the Doctor!

For me, part of the problem with River was the casting. If she returns, but is recast with a different, younger actress in the role (it will be earlier in her life, after all), she could be a lot more likeable, at least to me.
I'm still not sure that the 'Next Doctor' will be the 11th Doctor. My theory is that he's some kind of copycat/parody, maybe even an unintentional one: his companion is called Rosita, which sounds a lot like Rose. But it's not long until we find out more, and Doctor Who always manages a surprise or two.

Or...he could be another Time Lord that managed to escape the Time War and disguised himself as a human, like the Master did (and the Doctor in Human Nature/Family Of Blood, of course). David Morrissey has a fobwatch as part of his outfit, so that's how I've got that theory

So as it turned out, my theory about him being an unintentional copycat was right, but you were right about his fob-watch being important.
Now if only Rani from The Sarah Jane Adventures had a fob-watch, it would give her name added significance!

I've got a crush on David Morrissey now after seeing him in that episode - I hope his character makes a return at some point Bit disappointed he didn't turn out to be a Time Lord, but at least he wasn't killed off which I'm relieved about! Still think he'd be a great Doctor in the future, if he wants the role Now we have a long, painful wait until we find out who the 11th Doctor is

So it's...Matt Smith. Someone I'd never heard of before and I haven't seen any of the things he's acted in - I checked his Wikipedia entry to find out if I had. According to Steven Moffat, he's a brilliant actor so I suppose he must know what he's doing by casting him. It's weird there's an actor who'll play the Doctor that's younger than I am, so I won't look up to this incarnation of our favourite Time Lord in the same way as I have before. I'm giving him a chance though, unlike loads of people over on Digi Spy who are being nasty about him (mostly about his looks). I'm proud of the fact that David Tennant is MY Doctor ;D And Christopher Eccleston for a year, lol I didn't become a fan of the show until repeats were shown on BBC2 in the early 90's, so I didn't have my own Doctor until the show was revived.

Arguably, people who are writing off Matt Smith on the basis of his appearance don't deserve to enjoy his performance. I'm willing to trust Steven Moffat's judgement, and then form my own once I've seen the 11th Doctor in action. It was strange seeing him introduced on Doctor Who Confidential, and then seeing David Tennant a moment later and thinking: you're the old guy now (in more ways than one)! Although this is an off-topic forum, and there's no obligation for discussions to have anything to do with Knightmare, here is a recent YouTube video that connects Doctor Who to Knightmare rather well: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ssqrX_axHFY

Now the filming for S5 has started, I'm REALLY looking forward to the Matt Smith era - and his costume for the Doctor is so classic era it's brilliant! It reminds me of Pat Troughton's costume a bit And a female Scottish companion in the TARDIS, about time too! ;D

I didn't know that. You must be delighted! (And if that means that we won't be seeing River Song in the TARDIS yet, I'm pleased too. ) I've not seen the 11th Doctor's costume, but I know that there's a bow tie involved. I'm waiting to see the 10th Doctor on his way before I think ahead to a new one. ;D

You must've managed to avoid most of the spoilers out there, there's not that many but it's still been pretty difficult to avoid the few there are. How did you manage to do it?

Part of it must be luck! Also, I don't tend to go looking for Doctor Who news; but at the same time, I try to be relaxed about any that comes my way. I've known some highly 'spoilerphobic' Doctor Who fans in my time, though I would like to think that with a show as high-quality as Doctor Who, knowing story details in advance shouldn't literally spoil the experience of watching the episode. After all, a lot more goes into the episodes than just plot twists.
I found some old posts on the Knightmare Forum from 2003, where Russell T. Davies is mentioned. It was weird to see, so many years before the Doctor Who revival made him one of the best-known British names in TV writing/producing.

I've got a scrapbook full of Who-related clippings that I cut out from various magazines - stuff like news, pics and merchandise reviews. There's this little snippet that I stuck on the first page of the book from a 2003 edition of SFX, before it was announced the show was coming back. It starts off with the words "The BBC would like to bring Doctor Who back, but can't". It was something to do with the rights situation being too complicated. It's really funny reading that snippet now Really looking forward to The Waters Of Mars now, it looks like it'll be one of the darkest episodes of Who there's ever been! It's on at 7pm on Sunday November 15th

You didn't get the warmest of responses from Mystara when you tried to start a Doctor Who discussion on the main forum, did you? To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with The Waters Of Mars - I much preferred the Doctor's appearance in The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith around the same time - and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new producer and Doctor, and companion, can do. I bet you are looking forward to another dose of John Simm though. I found World War Three on an old video recently. It's amazing to think that just weeks after Doctor Who returned, we were sat watching an actor we'd got to know nearly 16 years earlier on Knightmare! I hope David Verrey isn't the last KM actor to appear on Doctor Who (or its spin-offs).
