I think Phil G. should be asked to guest-star in Doctor Who ;D He'd make a good UNIT officer - alongside Nicholas Courtney as the Brigidier (about time he was asked back to the show).

Guest star? That's far too restrictive for a man of his star quality. Philip Glenister for the role of Eleventh Doctor! Or, if they bring the Master back... As you probably know, Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner made multiple journeys to Manchester while John Simm was filming Life On Mars, in order to persuade him to appear in Doctor Who. As you definitely know, they succeeded! So if they want Philip Glenister for a part, they will probably get him. Did you watch any of The Sarah Jane Adventures last year? During one episode, Sarah Jane Smith is on the phone to UNIT, and says, "Love to the Brig." This confirms that the character is still alive, so there is hope of him reappearing on screen. Personally, I'd like to see Christopher Eccleston on Doctor Who again. They could do a flashback, or another multi-Doctor story... but no, it's not going to happen.

You're right, he'd make an awesome 11th Doctor Loved The Sarah Jane Adventures - it's the first thing I've watched on CBBC for years and I have to say it's a great show ;D

Great to hear that you saw The Sarah Jane Adventures! It seemed to pass a lot of Doctor Who fans by, which is a shame. I think I'd go as far as to say that I enjoyed it more than Torchwood.

I'll be interested to see how Colm Meaney (who I'm sure you know as Chief O'Brien) fares in the role of Gene Hunt in the American remake of Life On Mars. If nothing else, the part will enable him to live up to his surname.

Frankly, I don't understand why the Americans felt the need to remake LOM when the original has been a hit over there anyway (on BBC America). Still I do think that Colm Meany is a good choice for the American version of Gene I'm not sure if I'd want to see it given the chance though, it'd be too weird seeing another actor play Gene... Back on topic, it looks like new Who will start from mid-to-late April *crosses fingers that it's sooner rather than later*

Early April, as it turned out. Torchwood ends one day and Doctor Who restarts the next! It'll mean longer to wait until the Christmas special, but there's no point worrying about that yet. Talking of Christmas though, I'm betting that Adipose Babies will be this year's Buzz Lightyear... And I wonder who'd win in a fight between an Adipose Baby and a Tribble. ;D

This confirms that the character is still alive, so there is hope of him reappearing on screen. Then he was mentioned again in one of the Doctor Who Sontaran episodes (knighted but "stuck in Peru"), and I've since heard that the Brigadier will be appearing in the new series of the Sarah Jane Adventures. I believe that various Doctor Who fans plan to start watching SJA for this reason, to which I say, you should have been watching SJA anyway!

Yeah, it's a brilliant show - the young cast is great, the stories are as good as in Doctor Who and Lis Sladen is fantastic as ever ;D I loved the Torchwood & SJA crossovers that happened during Stolen Earth/Journey's End...more of that kind of thing, please!

I couldn't agree more. And if we enjoy it this much, I can only imagine what the CBBC-age viewers think about it! It wouldn't surprise me if Maria becomes the Doctor's companion one day.
The three-way crossover was spectacular, thrilling and a lot of fun; I don't know if anything quite like it will be attempted again. For me, the only way they could top it would be to have a new multiple Doctor story - set during the Time War...

Thanks, it's interesting to read those views. I think the writer is overly worried about up-and-coming actors being kept off the stage by big names, but is right to be concerned about ticket prices going through the roof. In an ideal world, going to the theatre would be as affordable as going to the cinema, but there must be a lot of factors that stop this from happening. Going back to Doctor Who for a moment, I found it fun to look back at the earliest posts of this thread, which date back to before the new series started. Look at some of our musings and predictions: Now if they get thr right actress to play the assistan Rose Tyler we could have something. (Pleses BBC NOT Billy Piper.) Sorry Skarkill (and everyone else who's not keen on her, me included), but the only name I've seen linked to the part of the Doc's assistant (Rose Tyler) has been Billie's. Well, I suppose there's got to be one bad point about new Doctor Who She did OK in the end, though, didn't she? I wonder if Simon Pegg, Mark Gatiss and some other members of the League of Gentlemen costar Simon Pegg did, as did Mark Gatiss, as well as Steve Pemberton who is also from the League of Gentlemen. (And it so happens that Christopher Eccleston had been a guest star on the League of Gentlemen!) I predict that when the new Doctor Who finally airs it will be one of (if not THE) the most popular things on British TV. Yes, a few people seem quite fond of it.
